PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This project aims to digitally preserve the traditional Mbaru Niang houses in Wae Rebo and Todo Villages, Flores, Indonesia—iconic conical structures that reflect deep cultural and environmental values. By using 3D laser scanning (Faro Focus S350), aerial photogrammetry (DJI Mavic 3 Enterprise), and terrestrial photogrammetry (Sony Alpha 7R IV), the team captures both the geometric precision and visual textures of these vernacular homes and their surrounding landscape.
To date, the dataset collection phase has been completed, including high-resolution scans and photographic loops from multiple angles. The team is currently processing and aligning the point clouds and photogrammetry outputs to reconstruct accurate, textured 3D models. These digital reconstructions will serve as valuable tools for heritage conservation, academic research, and immersive public engagement with Indonesia’s architectural heritage.
